❓ General Intel
Q: What is RadiaMaps?
A: RadiaMaps is a crowdsourced, cyberpunk-themed global radiation map ☢️. Data Agents (like you!) upload readings from devices like RadiaCode, and the system processes this data to display aggregated radiation levels across the Grid (the map).
Q: How accurate is the map data?
A: The map displays aggregated data from user uploads. Accuracy depends on the quality, density, and calibration of the source data provided by users. It's a visualization tool, not a substitute for official safety assessments. Always consult official sources for safety-critical information⚠️.
👤 User Accounts & Features
Q: Some of my readings are missing from the map?
A: Readings taking at over 100mph are filtered from the Hexagon averaging algorythm. All updloaded readings are saved and can be viewed by selecting "ALL READINGS". "ALL READINGS" will display only all of YOUR readings when logged in.
Q: Are User Accounts available?
A: Access credentials subsystem status: ONLINE! We are actively developing a user account system. This will allow Data Agents to manage their uploads, track personal statistics, and control sharing settings.
Q: Why are some features missing or limited? (e.g., viewing specific user paths)
A: System Directive: Maximum Privacy 🔒. In this current version, many features that would involve viewing potentially identifiable user data (like exact, individual travel paths linked to a source file) are intentionally unavailable. Our priority is protecting user privacy until robust account management and sharing controls are deployed. Feature implants are pending the account system activation.
Q: Can I see my own detailed reports?
A: Affirmative. The user account system is designed to give you access to your own uploaded data streams and detailed readings. You'll be able to review your contributions to the Grid.
Q: Will I be able to control sharing of my individual readings?
A: Core Protocol: User Control. Yes. When accounts are activated, Data Agents will have granular control over whether their *individual* reading points (specific location + time + reading) are shared publicly or kept private to their account. This is to maximize individual privacy choices.
Q: If I choose *not* to share my individual reports later, is my data still used?
A: Affirmative, for aggregation 📊. All valid, uploaded data is *always* used (anonymously) to calculate the *aggregated average* dose information displayed in the map's hexagons. Your sharing settings (once available) will control the visibility of your *specific, individual data points*, not whether your data contributes anonymously to the overall map averages.

Q: Where is the best place to ask questions, report bugs, or request features?
A: The primary communication hub is our Discord server! Join the other Data Agents, connect with the devs, report system anomalies (bugs) 🐛, and submit requests for feature implants (feature requests).
🔒 Privacy & Data Usage
Q: Is my uploaded data private? How is it used?
A: Please review our Privacy Policy for full details. Key points: We do not sell your personal data or raw uploads. All valid uploaded data contributes anonymously to the public aggregated map hexagons 🗺️. Personal contol over data shared is being expanded on regularly. We use cookies to track user interactions. Some data collected via PostHog to track daily usage.

1. Agreement Protocol Initialized 📜
Welcome, Data Agent! These Terms of Service ("Terms", "ToS") govern your access to and use of the RadiaMaps application and associated services ("Service"). By accessing or using the Service (including uploading track data), you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you disagree with any part of the terms, then you may not access the Service.
ACCESSING THE GRID MEANS YOU ACCEPT THESE PROTOCOLS.
2. Service Directive & Acceptable Use
RadiaMaps provides a platform for visualizing crowdsourced radiation data ☢️. You agree to use the Service only for its intended purpose.
Prohibited actions include, but are not limited to:
- Uploading intentionally falsified, malicious, or misleading data.
- Attempting to disrupt or overload the Service infrastructure (DDoS attacks, spamming uploads, etc.).
- Using the Service for any illegal or unauthorized purpose.
- Scraping or attempting to reverse-engineer large amounts of aggregated or individual data beyond the intended API/UI functionality (respect the bandwidth!).
- Violating any applicable local, state, national, or international law.
3. User Credentials & Access Keys
If account registration is required, you are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials. You are responsible for all activities that occur under your account. Notify us immediately of any unauthorized use or security breach. User accounts are non-transferable access keys to the system.
4. Data Stream & User Content Protocol 🛰️
You retain ownership of the raw data files you upload. However, by uploading data to the Service, you grant RadiaMaps a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, perpetual, irrevocable license to:
- Use, process, parse, analyze, and store the data contained within your uploaded files.
- Calculate derived data (like speed, H3 indices, statistics).
- Incorporate your anonymized and aggregated data into the public-facing radiation map and statistical displays.
- Use the data (including retaining it indefinitely) to operate, maintain, improve, and develop the RadiaMaps Service.
You represent and warrant that you have the necessary rights to upload the data and grant us this license. RadiaMaps has the right to keep any information uploaded by users for the purposes of running the app, as outlined above. We do not claim ownership of your raw files, but we require the license to use the data within them to make the Service function.
5. System Integrity & Disclaimers ⚠️
The Service and the data displayed are provided "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied.
RadiaMaps does not warrant that:
- The Service will function uninterrupted, secure, or available at any particular time or location.
- Any errors or defects will be corrected.
- The data displayed is perfectly accurate, complete, or suitable for any specific purpose (especially safety-critical decisions). Data is crowdsourced and accuracy may vary significantly.
- The Service is free of viruses or other harmful components (though we try!).
VERIFY CRITICAL READINGS THROUGH OFFICIAL SOURCES. DO NOT RELY SOLELY ON RADIAMAPS FOR SAFETY DECISIONS.
6. Limitation of Liability Matrix
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, RadiaMaps (and its operators/affiliates) shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or revenues, whether incurred directly or indirectly, or any loss of data, use, goodwill, or other intangible losses, resulting from:
- Your access to or use of or inability to access or use the Service.
- Any conduct or content of any third party on the Service.
- Any content obtained from the Service (including decisions based on potentially inaccurate data).
- Unauthorized access, use, or alteration of your transmissions or content.
7. Connection Termination Sequence
We may terminate or suspend your access to the Service immediately, without prior notice or liability, for any reason whatsoever, including without limitation if you breach the Terms. Upon termination, your right to use the Service will immediately cease. Provisions of these Terms which by their nature should survive termination shall survive (including, without limitation, ownership provisions, warranty disclaimers, indemnity, and limitations of liability).
8. Jurisdiction Protocols
These Terms shall be governed and construed in accordance with the laws of The United States, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.
9. Protocol Updates & Revisions
We reserve the right, at our sole discretion, to modify or replace these Terms at any time. We will provide notice of material changes (e.g., via the website). By continuing to access or use our Service after those revisions become effective, you agree to be bound by the revised terms.
